Based on a comparison of the description of South America in Bogdan’s notebook and modern students’ notes we observed that similar topics are covered. However, there are large differences regarding the amount of imparted knowledge. Nowadays the description of the continent is divided among several branches of geography (physical geography, socio-economic geography). In Bogdan’s notes there is only general information. Perhaps this disparity is the result of contemporary development in many fields. Also today pupils have access to much more detailed information about the world.
