Bogdan Kajak’s science notebook – astronomy

Bogdan Kajak in his notes from Physics and Astronomy described the solar system. A lot of information written before World War II is already out of date because of progress in science.

The first difference we can see is in the number of planets in the solar system listed by the author, because since 2006 Pluto has no longer been classified as a planet, but as a dwarf planet.

From the notes we know that Jupiter has 9 moons and Saturn has 10. But today we know that each of them has over 60 moons.

Nowadays study of the solar system is broader and includes a more precise profile of the planets. Interestingly Bogdan doesn’t mention anything about Saturn’s rings. They aren’t drawn in the picture in his notebook either.

In Bogdan’s notes we can see that he didn’t care about punctuation and spelling very much. He wrote full sentences with many adjectives. But he didn’t use any distinguishing features, subsections or underlining. His notes are in the form of a continuous text.
